It is an understatement to say that the past few years have been marked by uncertainty. We have lived through a pandemic, economic impacts, social unrest, a contentious election and post-election season, wildfires, and more. And ahead of us lies yet more uncertainty. The lack of predictability in our lives can lead to ambiguity, confusion, and difficulty in making informed decisions, all of which can be stressful. Resilience–the ability to withstand and adapt to challenges, shocks, disruptions, and uncertainties–plays a critical role in navigating these challenging times. How are we living with uncertainty, and finding (or not finding) resilience–as individuals, in our families, and as a community?

For more about the topic and how we'll engage with each other, check out the Resilience Amid Uncertainty Conversation Guide.

About Living Room Conversations

Living Room Conversations is a small group model for dialogue that facilitates connections between people. Come to the table to share your perspective, learn about the experiences of others and potentially leave with stronger connections and a shared sense of community. This interactive program is participatory in nature: attendees will be asked to engage with and contribute to the conversation. Optional: prepare ahead of time with the Conversation Guide mentioned above.

This program is offered in collaboration with the Estes Valley Restorative Justice Partnership as part of our Community Conversations program.

More about this program

To receive an email with the Zoom meeting link, please enter your email address when registering. We'll also email the Zoom meeting link shortly before the start of the event. If you are unable to connect to the Zoom meeting, please contact the Library at 970-586-8116 and someone will assist you.

Also, we want everyone in the conversation to feel comfortable sharing, and an important prerequisite for that is allowing conversation participants to get to know each other. We therefore ask that anyone who joins virtually keeps their video turned on throughout the conversation, and, for each section of the conversation, either contributes, or indicates to the group (verbally or via the chat function) that they would like to "pass" on that section. In other words, we ask the same level of participation from virtual participants that we ask of in-person participants. If you have any questions or concerns about these requirements, please contact Eric White at ewhite@estesvalleylibrary.org or 970-586-8116 x832.
