Intergenerational Dialogue - Living Room Conversation - Tribalism 101: Next Door Strangers.

11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Event Details

Join us for an intergenerational dialogue between youth and older adults. This event is targeting participants ages 14-19 or 59 and older. The conversation will focus on the issue of tribalism, its impact on community, and the challenges of generalizations, identity and belonging. Through small facilitated group discussions, participants will speak to the following:

  • What generalizations do you think people make about your group? Which are accurate? Which are inaccurate? Which are most painful?

  • What generalizations do you make about other groups? How do you evaluate or check the validity of your generalizations, if at all? How important is it to you that your generalizations are accurate?

  • Some groups come together based on sharing a common culture, vision, or enemy. What is the commonality for your group? What need does your group fulfill in your life?

Living Room Conversations is a small group model for dialogue that facilitates connections between people. Come to the virtual “table” to share your perspective, learn about the experiences of others and potentially leave with stronger connections and a shared sense of community. This interactive program is participatory in nature: attendees will be asked to engage with and contribute to the conversation, so plan to have your microphone and video switched on. Optional: prepare ahead of time with the Conversation Guide

This program is offered in collaboration with Estes Valley Restorative Justice Partnership as part of our Estes Valley Community Conversations program. Youth participants in this conversation are joining as part of an Estes Park High community-classroom collaboration.

The Zoom link will be emailed to you upon registration. Please join us on Zoom a few minutes early to resolve any technical issues.
