Young Chautauqua Club

4:00 PM - 5:15 PM
Estes Valley Library
Hondius Community Room
What is Young Chautauqua? Imagine inhabiting a character out of history -- speaking in that person's very words -- in costume -- before an audience and taking impromptu questions from the audience. The Commitment -- Young Chautauqua requires a commitment of time, study and practice for students in grades 3-5. In return you have an amazing experience and better learn about and identify with a person in history. Participants begin by selecting a person from history. You research that person, comb through your closet and visit thrift shops to create a costume; memorize your character's speeches and writings; and rehearse with acting coach and facilitator, Katherine Dumont. Your presentation will be about 5-7 minutes long
